Sterling Silver Tigereye and Multi-Stone Necklace

The story...

The construction of this piece started with the hand-cut and polished blue variegated tiger eye. I've only recently gotten into doing lapidary work and this being one of the first stones I messed with, I was inspired to create a design around it. Following the inspiration, the design of this piece quickly morphed into other techniques I've never attempted. I had never tried setting a bullet shaped stone, a tube hinge, or tube bail, nor had I tried setting a barrel shape stone with capped bezels. With Inspiration comes success! I got all the stones together and fabricated each piece one at a time until it was finished.

This sterling silver pendant features a beautiful half-barrel blue variegated tiger eye stone. The stone is set in a sturdy capped bezel setting with a full back plate - typically when you see this setting it has two caps simply glued to the stone, but because the caps are soldered to a full back plate the stone is actually set without using glue! Underneath the tiger eye is a row of hinged tube-set bullet stones that swing with movement, like the flash of the tiger eye. The longest bullet in the center is a bright red carnelian. On either side of the carnelian are vibrant peridots and rich red garnets on the ends. This pendant hangs from a unique arched tube bail. This pendant comes on a cable chain.
